HORNE donates $60,000 to charities in Louisiana and Arkansas

Two non-profits in New Orleans and Little Rock, Arkansas, soon will receive support for their community efforts thanks to HORNE and the HORNE Community Foundation.

HORNE team members voted for the Youth Empowerment Project in New Orleans as the winner of $50,000, with Immerse Arkansas coming in second with an award of $10,000.

Founded in 2004, YEP is a non-profit organization that provides mentoring, high school equivalency preparation, employment readiness and enrichment programs to young people who live in chronic poverty, are out of school or work or have experienced trauma.

Immerse Arkansas was founded to help youth aging out of foster case, but it has expanded to support young people between 14 and 24 experiencing various types of trauma. The group provides a youth drop-in center, as well as support, stable housing and coaching for young people as they transition into adulthood.

As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, HORNE employees will vote on non-profits nominated from six regions where the firm serves in the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The foundation, on behalf of HORNE, will award $60,000 every week for six weeks, for a total of $360,000.

“Throughout the past 60 years, HORNE has grown from a local accounting practice to a nationwide professional services firm with a mission of delivering with care,” said Neil Forbes, HORNE’s managing partner. “We live and work in the very communities where these worthy organizations are serving and we’re proud to give back to those who are doing so much good.”

The HORNE Community Foundation was established by the firm’s partners in 2021 to provide financial support to the areas where team members live and serve.
